Oven safe pans

Postby Lunchbox » Thu Oct 04, 2012 3:36 pm

Mrs. Lunchbox's birthday is next week and she's asked for a sauté pan she can put in the oven (i.e. no plastic handle, high heat, etc). Anyone have any recommendations?

If they don't break the bank, that would be appreciated. Although, our current set has seen better days and we've had most of them since we got married (12 years ago!) so I wouldn't mind finding a new set altogether...

Thanks in advance!

Yeah probably... As long as the nonstick can handle the high heat... (which in my limited research seems to be a factor).

Oven safe pans

Scanpan, Vollrath and Wear-Ever all make non-stick with heat-resistant handles. The latter two are more "industry" brands, so you'll need to go to National Restaurant Supply or buy online. Scanpan is a titanium-ceramic composite and aimed more at home use - I've had mine for about 10 years and it still works great.

For my money, I'd buy Vollrath.

Was looking at a set of Scanpan at Sur La Table which was about $899. (Yikes!) I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on them.

Wound up at the Calphalon outlet on a trip home to WI. Bought this 13-piece set for $425.00. (We saved 25% for donating $10 to breast cancer which gave us a coupon.) I can't wait to try them out...
